Can an SSA account be opened through grandparents instead of legal parents?

 SSA account can be opened in the name of girl child till the age of 10 years. The aim of SSA account is to save money for higher study and/or for marriage of girl child

in future. The maturity amount can be withdrawal by the girl only which means parents can not close the SSA account and the amount can be withdrawal by the girl only.

Q. Who can open SSA account?

Ans: Through legal guardian only which means SSA account can not be opened through grandparents or other relative/persons in any case. 

Q: What if SSA account were opened through grandparents? 

A: Such type of account shall be treated as irregular and no interest will be given in such accounts. If any accounts have already been opened than the same should be closed immediately. 

 Q. How to change name of guardian in SSA account?
